    <ns1:description language="it">MNEMEDANCE (acronimo di Memory in Motion. Re-Membering Dance History ) indaga la relazione tra danza e memoria per ripensare la storia della danza come una disciplina che può avere un impatto su altri ambiti artistici e nelle scienze umane. Lo studio della memoria intesa come strumento può fornire alla storia della danza la possibilità di rintracciare il passato concettualizzandolo come un processo costante più che come la somma di saperi stabili e acquisiti. In danza la memoria implica sempre il movimento dei corpi che la attivano, la incorporano e la recepiscono in un flusso costante. Da questa prospettiva il corpo che danza è studiato come un dispositivo di memorizzazione e archiviazione, e il movimento corporeo come uno strumento per attivare strategie di conservazione e trasformazione dei significati. MNEMEDANCE mira inoltre a mettere in discussione le genealogie canoniche di artisti, pratiche e tradizioni coreografiche, che la storiografia della danza ha stabilito spesso senza tenere conto di rimozioni, oblii o forme di resistenza. Il progetto mette infine in discussione l’assunto secondo cui la danza è una forma effimera e non riproducibile di sapere, analizzando il ruolo dei danzatori nell’elaborazione, conservazione, trasmissione e accessibilità dei saperi collettivi.

    <ns1:description language="en">MNEMEDANCE (acronym of Memory in Motion. Re-Membering Dance History) aims at inquiring into the relationship between dance and memory to rethink dance history as a discipline that can make an impact also in adjacent areas of the arts and humanities. Dance history will gain from retrieving memory as a tool because the efficacy of memory lies in the possibility of tracing the past understood as an ongoing process rather than a sum of acquired knowledge. In dance, memory is always active because it implies the movement of the bodies performing and perceiving it. MNEMEDANCE investigates the dancing body as a tool for remembering and archiving experiences and cultures, and movement as a strategy for preserving and transforming meaning. It also aims at questioning the canonical genealogies of artists and traditions that historians have often assumed without taking into account forms of removals, oblivion, or resistance. It aims as well at challenging the common assumption that dance is a form of ephemeral and non-reproducible knowledge, analyzing the role of dancers and choreographers in the construction of collective knowledge and memories, their preservation, transmission, and accessibility.
