Questo volume rievoca la storia dell&apos;insegnamento e della ricerca sulle lingue e le civiltà del Medio, Centro, Sud-Est asiatico e dell&apos;Asia orientale a Ca&apos; Foscari, e delle relazioni di questa Università con l&apos;Oriente, offrendo alcuni spunti e informazioni sull&apos;evoluzione di queste discipline, i principali protagonisti e le molteplici connessioni che hanno legato e legano ancora Ca&apos; Foscari con il mondo orientale.

    <ns1:description language="en">Since its establishment in 1868, Ca’ Foscari University’s educational vocation has been marked by its attention to the study and teaching of Oriental languages. Inheriting the legacy of Venice as a commercial and cultural gateway to the East, the development of Oriental studies has been envisioned as one of the most important and peculiar missions of this University as a national educational institution. 
This volume revisits the history of the teaching and research on Middle, Central, South-Asian and East Asian languages and civilisations at Ca’ Foscari, and of this University’s relationships with the East, offering some insights and information about the evolution of these disciplines, the main protagonists and the multiple connections that have tied and still tie Ca’ Foscari with the Oriental world.
